Thank you Tim for hellping me out.  The database file was hidden in the SDR folder but once it was deleted, I downloaded a fresh SDR 1.18.5 and all is well again except for VAC 4.09  and now I know what caused my problems.  My wife had bought me a "SYSTEMS MECHANIC" program as a gift thinking I could use it on this computer.  Well, 3 days ago before the fatal error started, I had ran the SYSTEM MECHANIC program which said I had corrupted files and asked if I wanted them deleted which I gave it a go ahead.  Somehow it apparently thought SDR and VAC were not proper programs and corrupted files in both.  My Com0Com is still working however. I am back on the air again---  Thanks again

I have one of these Fatal exception errors of my very own firstly I only have a Softrock RX for now, I am trying to evaluate power SDR before I start to build some SDR1000 compatible hardware - don't worry I won't be doing the digital stuff, somebody much cleverer than me will be doing that.

Hardware:
Mainboard : Intel DP55WB
Chipset : Intel P55
Processor : Intel Core i5 750 @ 2666 MHz
Physical Memory :4096 MB (2 x 2048 DDR3-SDRAM )
Video Card :NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS
Hard Disk : WDC (500 GB)
Sound Card: Delta 44 PCI -

Software: PowerSDR 1.18.6
Delta 44 PCI - driver 5.10.0.5069

The software started once upon installation after doing the wisdom fft stuff, all subsequent attempts to start the software results in the following being displayed.

I suspect that I may have an incompatible soundcard driver, is there an older - better one?

Regards

You didn't tell what operating system yu are using, but the error indicates you are using an incompatible Delta 44 sound card driver.

Search the FlexRadio Knowledge Base (http://kb.flex-radio.com) for the workaround which is to use an older driver.

Hi Tim I am using XP SP3. I'll look for the workaround. I did look for older drivers on the M Audio site but the only 2 listed were pretty new. Which driver should I be using with a Delta 44, PowerSDR 1.18.6 and XP Pro SP3?

This is one of the major problems with external sound card based SDRs. You depend on a third-party driver and if the manufacturer changes it or a new operating system mandates a driver change, you could get stuck with an inoperable radio.

I fixed the problem by installing the 5.10.00.5057 Driver. It is available from the M-Audio site at the following link:

http://www.m-audio.com/index.php?do=support.drivers&f=785

I hope that this is of help to others.
