Would like to know if we could have some discussion about how to use some available hardware & software that currently works on "Other" radios and using these with Flex 5000! An example, I used HRD (Free-Always great!) with my "regular radios" for some radio control-but mostly for logging and automatically sending eQSL's updates, etc. Well with Running the Flex 5000 I started looking around for a good logging program, don't really need radio control other than tracking the Flex 5000 for Log entries- (Eample program-WinLog 32) Anybody using this or has anyone had good luck with a freeware/shareware logging program with the Flex 5000! We know in a few years that the Flex 5000 will be a household name and ALL programs will list the Flex radios as compatible, but for now I think help in this would be great! Also the Flex used Kenwood TS-2000 cat commands I have heard, is it as simple as telling the software you have a TS-2000 connected instead of the Flex 5000? All help will be great! K9TEN

I am selling 3 of my radios and 1ea amp to get the money to buy a Flex 5000, after playing with it at the Hunstville Hamfest I know I must Have one, I will be selling a FT-920, IC-761, Ten Tec Pegasus and an Ameritron 811H and I won't miss them !

First off, yes, it is as easy as setting a CAT program to Kenwood TS2000 and CAT works just fine.

There are several programs that are actually using the native PowerSDR CAT command set, like HRD and PC-ALE.

Loggers are like women. Everybody wants and needs one, but you are not going to like them all. . I have tried about all of them and personally none comes close in my opinion to doing everything I would like it to do the way I want it to work. Especially the free ones. I currently use Prolog2K. I can tell you the two things I hate about it. It does not follow standard windows programming conventions (you can not select and paste text into fields) and there is no way in real time to see multiple entries in the log book.

With that said, I have not heard reports of any loggers not working with the PowerSDR.

Hopefully more software vendors will start supporting the native PowerSDR CAT command set because it give full control of all of the feature that PowerSDR has that the Kenwood is lacking.

Tim,
I though I might be the only one using Prolog2K... I would add another negative... It does like to be installed in a non-standard fashion. That said... I have used it for years...

You can't beat the award handling in Prolog2K. And I like the DDE interface to MixW.

I can think of one 'free one' that does do all the things you mentioned (and more) and is totally compliant with Flexradio.

DXlab Suite of programs

Dave, AA6YQ, the author even has a SDR and has made many changes to his software to accomadate my Flex5k. and utilize it's features.
